About the Farm
Hartley Farm has been farmed by Richard, Tom's father, since the 1970's as a cereal and livestock farm. However, due to the changing economic climate and environmental demands the farm is now facing new challenges. Many of the fields are still farmed as arable, but our farming policy is now based on a more mixed and sustainable rotation. We now have a flock of free range hens that keep the shop stocked with eggs and Tom's uncle Steve also farms his flock of sheep in his neighbouring fields. Our vegetable field keeps us stocked with plenty of fresh vegetables when in season and our recently established herb garden supplies us with plenty of fresh herbs too. We also have a working relationship with local charity Jamie's Farm were part of our land is used to farm free range pigs and as well as a herd of Aberdeen Angus beef cattle. All the meat produced from the charity's venture is available in our butchery too. We will keep you updated with life on the farm through our regular newsletter. |
