Dear All,
Firstly, I hope all of you who came to our Farm House Breakfast Saturday enjoyed their breakfast. It was good fun and rewarding to see the response. We are looking to add the breakfasts as a more regular occurrence on a Saturday as it did seem to be quite popular. In the meantime, there’s never a dull moment at Hartley Farm as we prepare for  ‘Purple Love Week’ and we are extremely pleased to announce that Hartley Farm Shop & Café has been nominated for a Deli of the Year 2010 award – thank you to those to have nominated us.

This award is being launched during Purple Love Week, which starts this Saturday 13th February and ends a week Sunday 21st February.  The event is annual UK event that celebrates the work of independent food retailers like us. The competition is looking to seek out those who possess the “deli attitude” not just delicatessens. This could be the produce it sells, the atmosphere or just simply the lengths it goes to provide customers with what they need, whatever that may be! More details of the event are available online and in the shop and if you think we have what it takes to win please vote for us at http://www.delioftheyear.co.uk/.  As always, your comments are very welcome as we plan to expand our deli counter over the next few months and it would be helpful to hear from you

To celebrate our nomination we’d like to invite you to join in some “Purple Love Week” fun. Activities will include a Purple Love Week Hamper prize draw (worth £40) for every customer who spends £10 or more next week receiving a free draw ticket. The hamper prize will be on display until Sunday 21st February when we will ask a customer to pull the winning ticket.

We will also be offering tastings from our deli throughout all of next week and if you visit our café during the week you may be one of the lucky customers to have a “Purple Love Week” surprise!

Along with this there will also be a celebration of all things purple for the week including special offers, recipe’s and lots to taste.   Don’t forget to kick off the week we have Valentine’s Day too! We have stocked up once again on hessian bags to showcase your bottle of bubbly or local wine. We also have available DIY hamper boxes for your own personalized gift ideas, champagne and locally made fudge hampers (as seen on the right) as well as on special offer for the week Bramley & Gage fruit liqueurs, the perfect present for your loved one, who knows they might even share it with you! Ed also has a butchers counter full of joints and steaks ready for you to treat your loved one, as well as a couple of special valentine’s cheeses available at the deli counter too.  Laura and Grace from Young Blooms are here to sort out your single stem rose requirements or your beautiful bouquets and order forms are available from the shop from now. Although it still a little early, Julie will have some early bedding plants for those of you with itchy green fingers, and we also have a beautiful selection of handmade cards from Sarah Wall who lives in Winsley so there really is no excuse this year!  Lastly, it’s Pancake Day next Tuesday – so for a half term treat come and enjoy a pancake in the cafe, and let us worry about the mess!!  Don’t forget to vote for us at www.delioftheyear.co.uk!  We look forward to seeing you all over the next couple of weeks.  All the best,

Tom
