The biggest news for this month is that we have welcomed guests back into The Barn again for breakfast and lunch! We managed to open just for a couple of weeks in October before the second lockdown and since then, it has been our takeaway hub. It’s so nice to get the tables and chairs back out, get the fire roaring and hear the chatter of guests again! Our new menu features some old favourites and new dishes too all with our ethos of cooking fresh, wholesome food and championing the wonderful local farmers, growers and makers.

The Barn has been a lifesaver for our cafe team over the last 12 months but we know that we have to keep moving forward. That’s why we have some very exciting plans in place to make the space more suitable for all weather conditions and also allow us to expand our menu. For now, our trusty food trailer will be cooking up farmhouse breakfasts, incredible burgers and freshly prepared, seasonal salads this summer. The Cabin will also be open for takeaway coffee, cake and gelato to enjoy in the garden and the paddock. Here’s to a summer of sunshine and freedom (we hope..)

On the farm, we are secretly hoping for the odd shower amongst the sun to keep the grass in front of our cows! Also, in the market garden, Kate will be picking salads, spinach, herbs, rainbow chard, broad beans and climbing beans. May and June are known as the ‘hungry gap’ where much of the spring sowings aren’t ready to harvest quite yet but as we move into July, harvest season starts.

In the farm shop, we’ll be focusing on the most important day of the year, Father’s Day! Our seasonal table will be filled with great gifts and gadgets perfect for all of us Dads. There will also be an offer from our butcher’s featuring some of our new BBQ range in the hope of a sunny Father’s Day weekend.

All the best,

Tom
