Grass Fed Beef

We source the majority of our beef from our own suckler beef herd here at Hartley Farm. We have native breed cows suited to our landscape that thrive with very little input from us. We believe in a pasture-based system where cows graze a diverse mix of grasses, wild herbs, and legumes. They graze these pastures through the spring, summer and autumn grazing season and are buffer fed hay and silage in the winter months, cut from our own pastures. Grass-fed beef is not only a much less impactful method of farming but also produces beautiful beef.

Our beef is slower to mature resulting in a deeper flavour and a good amount of fat. Our beef is then dry-hung to further develop flavour and tenderness before being cut by our own expert butchers here at the farm.
