This month has been a busy month for us as the kind spring weather meant silage making began and the beginning of building up our feed stores for our cattle for next winter. The balance of rain and shine has made for great grass growing weather and with last summer’s drought in mind, much of our attention has been on making sure we can cut and store away as much forage as possible. With the majority of calving now done we know how many mouths we’ll have to feed. So now we just have to cross our fingers for not quite such a long dry summer as last year.

Last month we also hosted a brilliant charity running event we’ve called the Nose to Trail. We had nearly 200 runners on the day across 3 races and we managed to raise money for two local charities. The trail run was across fields, tracks, footpaths and through woods and the general feedback was how beautiful the scenery was along the route, a welcome distraction from the tricky hills! Thank you also to Church Farm, Conkwell Grange Stud, Haugh Farm and Great Ashley Farm for their support. Over the next couple of months, we have a great couple of events at our sister farm shop, Neston. The Little Farmer’s Fiesta is a great family day out with tractor rides around the beautiful Neston Park Estate. As usual, these will be pre-bookable so-called the farm shop at Neston on 01225 700881 to book.
