WEED WALKS with Jonny Apples

No, not that sort of weed! This is a family establishment 😉 

Take a tour around the farm with Jonny Apples, an experienced organic grower, who has learnt an appreciation for the ‘weeds’ that surround him on a day to day basis.  During the week he works alongside Kate Collyns at Grown Green, here at the farm.  In his spare time he enjoys foraging for herbs and plants and using these to make herbal teas and tonics.

A large part of a veg growers job involves tackling the abundance of weeds that are forever rearing their heads on the allotment. Over the years Jonny has learnt a deep appreciation for such ‘weeds’, that he is keen to share with you.  He will take you for a wander around the farm talking you through the weeds and herbs growing in the hedgerows and fields, explaining the uses and benefits of some everyday plants that you may otherwise think of as pesky intruders in your garden.

The walk will be around 1 hour, followed by a Hartley Ploughman’s lunch.  Jonny will also be offering tasters of a herbal tea and tonic vinegar that he has made using some of the ‘weeds’ from around the farm.

Please dress appropriately as the walk will go ahead regardless of the weather,  unless deemed unsafe!  The walk won’t be long in terms of distance. However the ground is likely to be uneven.
