The equinox marks the end of summer and the beginning of autumn and it’s one of our favourite times to explore the bounty our countryside has to offer.
At this time of year, English hedgerows and trees are bejewelled with an abundance of berries, fruits, nuts and seeds. It is also the best time to harvest roots and tubers as they are at their most nutritional at the end of the summer season.
Take a walk with Jonny who will show you some of his favourite foods to harvest, as well as discussing some of the best ways of preparing and preserving them.
During the week Jonny works alongside Kate Collyns at her Organic market garden ‘Grown Green’, based here at the farm.
The walk will be around 1 hour, followed by lunch in The Barn.
Please notify us of any dietary requirements when booking.
Meet at the front of the farm shop on the morning of the walk. Please dress appropriately as the walk will go ahead regardless of the weather, unless deemed unsafe! The walk won’t be long in terms of distance. However the ground is likely to be uneven.
Please forage responsibly as many animals will be relying on these foods to survive the winter.
