Community & Giving

Community has always been at the heart of Hartley. As a fifth-generation family farm, we believe our role goes beyond producing and serving good food. It is also about bringing people together and supporting the causes that matter to those around us.

Through fundraising events, seasonal activities and collections across the farm, our team and customers have helped support a range of local charities and causes over the years.

Our 2026 Charity Partner

For 2026, we are supporting My Name’5 Doddie Foundation, which funds research into effective treatments and, ultimately, a cure for motor neurone disease.

This cause became personal following our good friend Lewis Moody’s diagnosis with MND in 2025. Since then, Lewis has committed his energy to raising awareness and funds for research. We are proud to stand alongside him and bring our community together in support of this important work.

We will continue fundraising throughout 2026, with opportunities for our customers and team to get involved.

Twenty Four Seven Challenge

In June 2026, Hartley Farm became basecamp for the Twenty Four Seven Challenge, a continuous 24-hour team running event created to support our good friend Lewis Moody and raise funds for My Name’5 Doddie Foundation.

The challenge was simple but demanding: seven kilometres every hour for 24 hours, marking the number seven shirt Lewis wore during his rugby career. More than 100 runners took part, supported by an extraordinary team of organisers, volunteers, friends, family and local businesses.

Together, the challenge raised £57,017, with a further £12,762 in Gift Aid—showing what can happen when a community gets behind a shared cause.

How We Support Good Causes

Throughout the year, we use our events, spaces and everyday life at the farm to support causes that matter to our community. From larger fundraising challenges to simple ways for customers to contribute during a visit, we believe small actions can add up to something meaningful.

FUNDRAISING EVENTS

We organise and host events that bring people together around a shared cause, from community quizzes and seasonal activities to larger challenges such as Twenty Four Seven.

EVERYDAY GIVING

Children’s trails, charity menu items, donation points and other small initiatives make it easy for customers to contribute during an everyday visit.

SUPPORTING LOCAL CAUSES

We use our spaces and communication channels to support charities, schools and community groups, helping them raise funds and reach more people.

Choosing Our Charity Partner

The causes we support are usually local or regional, or have a personal connection to someone within our community. We welcome suggestions from our team and customers before creating a shortlist and selecting a principal charity partner for the year ahead.

Working with one principal partner gives us time to understand their work, share their story and create meaningful opportunities for people to get involved. Alongside this, we will continue supporting other local charities, schools and community groups through individual events and activities.
