September at Hartley Farm

Darkness has started to set in earlier in the evenings but the trade-off has been some picture-perfect autumn scenes at the beginning and end of the day. The sloes and damsons are steeping in the gin and the smell of woodsmoke fills the damp evening air. Such a beautiful time of the year.

This month, we’ve been hosting a couple of farm walks for the BOA Walking Festival and Climate Friendly BOA. It’s a great opportunity to show everyone our farm and discuss our future plans in the Countryside Stewardship Scheme through increasing biodiversity and reducing our carbon footprint.

Meanwhile, in the farm shop we have finished our spruce up and our new displays are now finished. The latest addition to our range is FILL a range refillable laundry and eco-friendly cleaning products. You can purchase a glass container in-store or bring your own up to fill up thus reducing your use of plastic!

After a quiet end to the summer, our events calendar kicks into action again this month. The first date for the diary is the Hartley Christmas Market on 30th November. We’ll have our wonderful producers, a selection of craft and gift stalls and of course our famous mince pies and mulled wine.

Our quiz nights will also return next month, the dates will be published very soon so keep an eye on our website. Later this month, though we have two great events at our sister site Neston. Firstly, Fright Fest returns on 26th October with our spooky woodland trail, storytelling and pumpkin picking. This is followed by our Family Fireworks at the Farm on 3rd November from 5:30 pm. This is a ticket only event and tickets go on sale at the start of October.
