January has a habit of arriving with a lot of noise.

New rules. New targets. New versions of ourselves we’re apparently supposed to become overnight. If your inbox looks anything like mine, it’s full of big promises and bigger pressure — all delivered at a time of year that’s often grey, cold and already a little heavy.

At Hartley, we’re choosing a different approach this winter.

Rather than rushing headlong into “new year, new you”, we’re using January and February as a moment to pause. A chance to focus on the small, everyday joys that make this season feel warmer, calmer and more human.

The sort of moments that don’t need improving or optimising.

A walk in the countryside with friends, wrapped up against the cold.
Gathering around a table for some simple, home-cooked, nourishing food.
A quiet coffee in the Farm Kitchen, warming your hands around a mug, with a steaming bowl of soup not far away.

These are the moments we’re celebrating this winter.

Good food has always been at the heart of what we do at Hartley — food with a story, grown, made or sourced with care. In the colder months, that often means slower cooking, familiar flavours and meals that feel grounding rather than showy. Food that looks after you, and is kind to the land it comes from.

Alongside that, our Farm Kitchen becomes a place to linger a little longer. Somewhere warm and welcoming to meet friends, catch up after a walk, or simply take a breather in the middle of the day. No rush. No expectation. Just good food and good company.

This winter, we’re also quietly encouraging something else: coming back regularly. Building gentle routines. Letting Hartley be part of the rhythm of your week, whether that’s a midweek coffee, a weekend shop, or Sunday lunch shared with family.

That sense of belonging — of being recognised, welcomed and looked after — matters to us. It’s why we’re softly introducing our My Hartley loyalty scheme over the coming weeks, not as a big fanfare, but as a small way of saying thank you to those who choose to spend their time with us.

So if winter feels long, or if you’re craving a slower pace and simpler pleasures, you’re very welcome here.

Over the next couple of months, we’ll be sharing comforting food, warm moments, seasonal events and small reasons to pause and enjoy where you are — just as you are.

This is our Season of Small Joys.
We’d love you to be part of it.
